What opportunity does emotionalintelligence bring to the workplace?
In my view it is a game changer, so tune in. I worked in a male dominated tech industry for 17 years. I was receiving this info & not always allowing it in. Perhaps scared I would be laughed at, or cause conflict, or scared to be seen as different? It is relevant & I think holds the key to unleashing creative solutions to the problems we face today.
If you have high EQ it is a STRENGTH, it does make you different & you can use it to help yourself & those around you. You are receiving info that others are not. I ask you to do one thing. NAME IT!
‘I sense frustration (/anger..) from you, what is here?’ – open, direct, honest, curious!
Say it without judgement or the need to be right. Say it because you are curious to understand what this sense is telling you & observe. It changes the energy in the room in any discussion.
I believe that if we can enable meaningful discussions about important topics within cognitively diverse teams, we can solve anything. By ignoring it there is little chance of discovering the best solution & mistakes will be made. What do you think? How can you tune in more to your EQ & get curious about what you might discover?
